New Moon in Leo | Rewriting the Rules

 July 23rd, 2017

New Moon in Leo:
Challenge old beliefs, break new ground, shatter your
inner glass ceiling and claim your light.

Are we repeating the same mistakes? Are we inclined to focus on negative experiences rather than positive ones? The past rather than the future? What can we learn from our past mistakes and what can we do differently in the future? Oftentimes, it can be hard to always be fully aware of what we are paying attention to and why. And this is the reason why it can be hard to kick bad habits or stick to our personal core values.

When we put our focus on past mistakes or negative experiences, we can lose our hope in the future. And when we lose hope, we tend to repeat the same mistakes. Know that focusing on our past mistakes shouldn't be about condemning what we did or didn't do, but more about giving ourselves the opportunity to slow down and reflect. Focusing on our future shouldn't also be about fearing the unknown, but more about figuring out what we can achieve if we avoid the same old pitfalls.

When we lose hope, we tend to repeat the same mistakes.

By paying more attention to our personal values, we can confront our unconscious belief systems and find new ways to address them. Why do we keep repeating the same mistakes? Is it because we are afraid of progress? Or is it because by extinguishing our own hopes, we can protect ourselves from the rejection that has already happened in the past?

The pain we know may be familiar, but this is not about familiarizing ourselves with our wounds. This is more about mastering and changing our present. Are we ready to challenge those old self-defeating beliefs and break new ground? Are we ready to let go of the need to know what's next? Begin by shattering our inner glass ceiling and rise above disempowering beliefs. Rewrite the rules, because only by changing our stories can we live our truth and let our true light shine.

The pain we know may be familiar, but this is not about
familiarizing ourselves with our wounds.

Happy New Moon! The Moon is joining the Sun, Mars and Mercury in Leo, marking a super expressive and ambitious New Moon in the sign of the Lion. As we believe more in ourselves, we lift ourselves up and purify our intentions so that they are aligned with our soul purpose. If we have been feeling anxious or irritable lately, now is the time to use those negative emotions to fuel our creativity.

Channeling strong emotions such as anger, fear, grief, frustration, disappointment and using them as a creative fuel can help us return to balance and equilibrium. Turning negativity into a creative action can be especially cathartic at this time. In this way, rather than letting strong negative emotions to consume or overwhelm us, we honor their power to inspire and move us in a positive direction.

As we believe more in ourselves, we lift ourselves up and purify
our intentions so that they are aligned with our soul purpose.

The Moon is forming a sextile to Jupiter and Venus, and love heals fear. We have come to a point in our lives where what matters most in our interactions is how we choose to react to others. Instead of angrily obsessing or allowing another person's behavior to pull us down, we choose a higher path of reaction such as taking care of ourselves and finding empowering solutions.

Heart-to-heart conversations can also deepen relationships at this time, helping us to understand one another better and bringing us closer to each other. We are here to break the cycle of passive-aggressive behaviors by learning new ways of communicating our thoughts. By bringing issues and feelings out in the open, we create a more truthful environment where we can approach conflict in healthy ways rather than avoiding conflict altogether.

We are here to break the cycle of passive-aggressive behaviors
by learning new ways of communicating our thoughts.

With the Moon's trine to Saturn Rx and Uranus, we remember that a dream can be manifested one step at a time. It can feel overwhelming when we don't know what step to take. Divine inspiration comes from listening with our hearts and minds to the Aha! ideas we receive. It's also important to incorporate playfulness into our daily lives to reduce stress and discover our inner joy. For example, we can express our playfulness while working at the office or exercising at the gym, because when we are playful, we lift up the energy of everyone around us.

Remember that working hard is not about promising ourselves that we will have fun someday once we have reached every goal we set for ourselves. The New Moon in Leo brings to us the reminder that we can still have our own version of fun while fulfilling our responsibilities. That we can pour joy into everything we do in the present and bring back our faith and optimism for the future. That we can get out of our own way and claim our light — not only because we deserve it, but also because being authentic is a form of self-respect and self-love.

Full Moon in Capricorn | Moving On (Mini Post)

 July 9th, 2017

You wanna fly, you got to give up the shit that weighs you down.
Toni Morrison

Full Moon in Capricorn:
I have the wisdom and the strength to keep moving forward
in the direction of my goals and dreams.

Where do we go from here? How do we get from where we are today to where we want to be tomorrow? Are we ready to close the door to the past and open the door to our future? There comes a time in everyone's life, when, for different reasons it's necessary to let things go and move forward. Not only because things have gotten too heavy to carry, but also because the present has become colourless and disconnected.

Know that disruption often appears in our lives to get us to change and move out of our comfort zones. Each disruption brings with it the opportunity to change, and how we deal with those disruptions determines the change. We want to remind ourselves that the only thing constant in life is change. By learning to adapt to new changes, we open a pathway out of our comfort zones and into a new season in our lives. By realizing that we are in the driver's seat, we can we respond to circumstances with a deeper sense of ownership, accountability and responsibility.

When we remember that we are always in control, which is not the same as being controlling, we become more free to think, feel and be anything we want. Feeling more free begins with eliminating victim talk from our vocabulary and owning our choices. By saying that we can't or we should or shouldn't, we are claiming that we have no control over our situation. When we eliminate the use of victim phrases, we can start taking life by the reigns and steer it wherever we want to go.

This doesn't mean that there won't be any bumps on the road, but there is wisdom in recognizing the power in being solution-oriented. So get in there, trust our intuition by tuning in to our inner compass and following our inspiration. Employ positive thinking by keeping our thoughts in a positive direction. Respect ourselves by participating in the world and fulfilling our dreams. Happiness does come from moving forward.

New Moon in Cancer | Clearing Out Old Emotions

Original photo by Josh Austin

● | ● | ● | ●

 June 24th, 2017

New Moon in Cancer:
By recognizing your own emotions more deeply you open
the door to expressing your feelings more clearly.

How can we recognize our own emotions more deeply? How can we express our emotions without having strong emotional reactions? Can we find the language to express our true feelings, both to ourselves and to others? Perhaps we have been finding it challenging to explain our emotions in words. But no matter how difficult it may be, benefits can only come when these emotions are recognized.

One of the ways in which we can better understand our emotions is to track back where they all began. Sometimes what we are feeling is not fully related to a situation that we are going through. When we are willing to look deeper into the heart of a situation, we will find a way to understand our emotions better and therefore able to find the right words to express our emotions and feelings.

Sometimes what we are feeling is not fully related to
a situation that we are going through.

Understand that emotions can be powerful and often, it is not so easy to express them without having such strong emotional reactions. The idea is not to control what we are feeling, but to recognize our emotions in a way that can help us find solutions rather than add fuel to the fire. The idea is also not to look for excuses to blame ourselves or others in the process, but more about developing mental understanding of those feelings that tend to lead to arguments.

Are we feeling fearful? Do we want to win, rather than to find a middle ground? Productive conversations begin with the intention to learn. We can start by asking questions like, "Why did that upset me?" or "How am I seeing this situation?" Phrases that come across as an openness to have a genuine dialogue helps us get to the root cause and set ourselves up to find a resolution. From there, we can begin to recognize our own emotions more deeply and open the door to expressing our feelings more clearly.

The idea is not to control what we are feeling, but to
recognize our emotions in a way that can help us
find solutions rather than add fuel to the fire.

Happy New Moon! The Moon is joining the Sun, Mercury and Mars in Cancer, marking an extra emotional and sentimental New Moon in the sign of the Crab. How connected do we feel to our emotional body? What do our suppressed emotions are trying to tell us? With a New Moon happening in a sign ruled by the Moon, we get a brand new start on our emotional understanding.

Understanding our emotions helps us relate to ourselves and others. Understanding our emotions helps us adapt to the challenges of our daily lives. When we feel good, we can tackle even the most burdensome of tasks with ease, but when we feel bad, we see even the easiest of tasks as burdensome. The same also affects our relationships with others. When we feel bad, even the slightest annoyance will seem intolerable, but when we feel good, we tend to see the humor in everything.

Understanding our emotions helps us adapt
to the challenges of our daily lives.

At the end of the day, emotional intelligence is not about how rarely we let ourselves feel negative emotions. It is more about having the understanding that in the end, feelings are just feelings, and they can be affected by how we think. Negative thoughts produce negative feelings, and positive thoughts produce positive feelings.

Emotional intelligence is also not about how well we are at controlling our emotions, but more about having the awareness that each person has their own style of expressing emotions and feelings. With Mercury and Mars in the sign of Cancer, our focus needs to be on the actions that follow feelings rather than trying to bury those feelings before they even rise to the surface.

With Mercury and Mars in the sign of Cancer, our focus
needs to be on the actions that follow feelings
rather than trying to bury those feelings
before they even rise to the surface.

With the Moon forming a square to Jupiter and Uranus, stay open and curious. Our ability to move forward relies on our willingness to learn new things, yet stay firmly grounded in who we truly are. Letting go of rigidity is what's being asked of us now to open the door to new inner growth. Loosen up, open our minds and see if a more flexible approach feels better. Remind ourselves that this is not only about us, but more about finding a way to bring about a result that is mutually beneficial.

The Moon is also forming a trine to Neptune Rx and a sextile to Venus, and the answer that we're looking for is love. Remember that we are all in these challenges together and it's a matter of dealing with differences in healthy ways. Honest discussions, openheartedness and soulful thinking can help us direct our energy into finding solutions and taking positive action. Opening our hearts is like opening a window to the soul to bring in healing light and let love in.

Honest discussions, openheartedness and soulful thinking
can help us direct our energy into finding solutions
and taking positive action.

With the Moon's opposition to Pluto Rx, this is not a time for debate about which truth is truer. This is a time when we are called to be willing to be transparent in our communication with ourselves and others. Peeling off the layers that kept us tied to an illusion will release the heavy burdens that deceit and denial impose on us and set ourselves free. Settling for nothing less than the truth is required as we make our journey forward on a new path.

A Cancer New Moon is a time to clear out old emotions and start anew. It's a time to be honest with ourselves and wake up to our highest potential. But to get into that flow, we need to readdress our spiritual roots and beliefs about our own ability to prosper and grow. This is not the time for resisting and swimming against the tide. This is our time to allow faith to guide us forward as we ride the wave of opportunity and flow like a river into the sea of life.

Full Moon in Sagittarius | Restoring Your Joy (Mini Post)

● | ● | ● | ●

 June 9th, 2017

Full Moon in Sagittarius:
Joy resides in your openness to constantly evolve
and explore new possibilities.

Where is our joy?

When did we stop taking joy in the simple things in life?

How can we remain joyful in a world which seems to be filled with darkness and fear?

Finding joy requires our awareness. Shifting our focus away from what we can't control to what we can do is that first necessary step to restore the joy within. Understanding that focusing on what we can do is not about being controlling, but more about being open to new opportunities through action.

When we are focusing on what we can do, instead of what we can't, we give ourselves the opportunity to choose love over fear. When we are opening ourselves up to new opportunities, we give ourselves the chance to grow beyond our old limitations.

Joy doesn't cost us anything. Joy begins with our willingness to live in gratitude, along with our openness to keep evolving and to keep on exploring new possibilities.

By seeing joy not only as a concept, but as a way of life, we can begin incorporating more en(joy)ment into our daily lives. By seeing joy as a means to explore new possibilities, we can expand our horizons and move forward, not with fear in our hearts, but with tenacity and courage in our souls.

New Moon in Gemini | Unmasking Your Truth

● | ● | ● | ●

 May 25th, 2017

New Moon in Gemini:
Speaking your truth is one of the highest forms
of respect you can give yourself.

How aware are we of the words that come out of our mouths?

How aware are we of the impact our words can have on others?

Are we honest with ourselves about who we really are in the world?

To speak our truth we must first be honest with ourselves. We all have parts of our personalities we want to hide because we are afraid if people see our 'real' selves, they won't like us anymore. But the more we lie about ourselves, the more we sabotage ourselves from true, authentic connections.

Being truthful is not about sharing all our secrets with everybody. Being truthful is not about telling everybody what we think and feel without considering their feelings. Being truthful is more about accepting our own strengths and weaknesses, our blessings and flaws, our joys and sorrows.

Being truthful is not about telling everybody what we
think and feel without considering their feelings.

Perhaps we don't want to speak our truth because we want to protect ourselves from harm. This is not about forcing ourselves to do something we don't want to do — because we simply have always done what we needed to do in order to survive. This is about the sense of honesty, integrity and trust we have within us to remain real with ourselves and others.

When we don't feel real, everything and everyone around us will feel unreal. When we are not aligned with our true path, our journey will seem more challenging with no firm ground to stand on.

In order to listen to our truth, we need to find that stillness and silence within. How can we hear ourselves if we are always rushing? Our truth resides in that silent space. Our inner voice speaks in our moments of peace and quiet. As we begin to peel layers of untruths within, we begin unmasking an inner truth where opportunities for growth, innovation and change abound.

When we don't feel real, everything and
everyone around us will feel unreal.

Happy New Moon! The Moon is joining the Sun and Mars in Gemini, marking a super chatty and restless New Moon in the sign of the Twins. Do we have the freedom to say what we really feel? How well do we convey our message to the world? Can we really strike a perfect balance between speaking and listening?

When we are listening, it is important to notice whether we are listening to reply, or to understand. When we are listening to reply, we are only focusing on what we want to hear. But when we are listening to understand, we stop jumping to conclusions and try to see the bigger picture.

This doesn't mean that we have to agree with everything we hear. This simply means that we can open our minds and try to understand someone else's point of view without having to agree with them. At the end of the day, speaking our minds shouldn't be about making someone else wrong. But about communicating honestly from a judgment-free space to express our authentic self and form more honest bonds.

When we are listening to understand, we stop jumping to
conclusions and try to see the bigger picture.

The Moon in Gemini is forming a square to Neptune and Chiron, and we realize that other people's opinions have no control over our lives. Each one of us is on our own unique journey, and other people disapproving of us is not a sign that we are on the wrong track. This can actually be an opportunity to create a new space for us to reflect on what truly matters.

This is the time to stop looking at what everyone else is doing and keep our eyes on our path. Not to be selfish, but to give ourselves and others the chance to grow, to learn, and to evolve.

The Gemini Moon is also forming a sextile to Venus and Uranus, and we can make a commitment to the importance of our priorities. We understand that as we stay strong in our commitment to follow-through, we value ourselves more and open our world to new possibilities.

Sometimes we need to admit our feelings to ourselves and face our inner truth. Only we know what it is we need to prioritize. Only we know what it is we truly desire. And only by admitting our true feelings to ourselves can we begin the process of change. Change doesn't have to be drastic. Change can be a single step in a new direction.

Change doesn't have to be drastic. Change
can be a single step in a new direction.

With the Moon's opposition to Saturn Rx, we get to slow down, breathe, and start anew. Sometimes blocks show up to remind us to stop to smell the roses and release the darkness. With so many distractions, we forget that each breath is precious. When we remember the wisdom in patience, we can savor each moment and see more clearly.

The New Moon in Gemini is a time to trust our instincts, stay the course and breathe. To proclaim our truth - knowing that we are safe in our willingness to be transparent, and remain open in our communication with ourselves and others. To know that being authentic is not about being egocentric, but more about looking at the real, honest truth about our thoughts, feelings and beliefs and finding the courage to share them from a place of awareness and set ourselves free.

Full Moon in Scorpio | The Soulful Gifts of Pain

● | ● | ● | ●

 May 10th, 2017

Full Moon in Scorpio:
Seeing pain as a catalyst for evolution is the first step
to transforming and healing your soul.

What are pain's benefits? What are pain's soulful gifts? Can we really find happiness through our pain? Yes, we can. But the gifts of pain are subtle. The gifts of pain are personal. They may not be so easily found at first due to their mysterious nature. But they are available to us once we are able to accept our pain.

One important factor in dealing with pain is figuring out whether they are physical or emotional in nature. Sometimes, our physical pain can come from our emotional pain, and other times, our emotional pain can come from our physical pain. Both pain may be different in nature, but they come from the same root, that something is out of balance.

The gifts of pain are personal.

When we are worrying too much, fearing too much, envying too much, hating too much or loving too much, we lose our emotional and physical equilibrium. Although there is nothing inherently wrong about showering someone with love, there is a thin line between being attentive and smothering or overwhelming.

By looking at our pain as a catalyst for evolution, we can begin the journey to transformation and healing. By looking at our pain as a catalyst for growth, we can begin to realize our full potential and increase our self-awareness.

Each pain brings with it the opportunity to reconnect with our soul on a deeper level. Each pain brings with it the promise of mental and emotional growth. Do not resist pain, because it only leads to more suffering. Instead, really listen to our emotions, accept fully what we are struggling with and begin recognizing new paths to growth and evolution.

By looking at our pain as a catalyst for growth,
we can begin to realize our full potential
 and increase our self-awareness.

Happy Full Moon! The Moon in Scorpio is opposite the Sun in Taurus, marking a deeply emotional and transformational Full Moon in the sign of the Scorpion. Ruling the 8th House in astrology, the Scorpio themes are centered around other people's money, taxes, debts, as well as sex, love affairs, taboos, and matters regarding death, rebirth and transformation. A Full Moon in the sign of Scorpio can shine a light on those subjects, even though they are not always so easy to figure out or even talk about.

With the Moon's trine to Neptune and Chiron, faith is the answer. Faith in healing. Faith in growing. Faith in moving forward fearlessly. Sometimes it may be easier said than done, but faith is exactly what we need when we are in the midst of darkness. Having faith is not about believing in the unreal, but more about believing in our inner wisdom and trusting that new roads are opening up before us when we are willing to break through old beliefs and barriers.

The Moon is also forming a sextile to Pluto Rx, and it's time to overcome our fears. The truth may hurt, but lies hurt more. As we nurture more self-love and self-confidence, we let go of the temptation of powerlessness. Powerlessness blocks us from our true purpose. Powerlessness stops us from taking charge and moving forward.

The truth may hurt, but lies hurt more.

In the end, the Full Moon in Scorpio is about unlocking and realizing our inner power. It's about mastering the power within - not to hurt others, but to take charge of our own lives and stop getting in our own way.

Taking control over our lives shouldn't be about being controlling, but about recognizing that the power to live our lives authentically is in our hands. By putting ourselves in the driver's seat of our lives, not only will we stop ourselves from feeling stuck, but we will also take back authority over our physical, mental and emotional bodies.

New Moon in Taurus | New Physical Reality

● | ● | ● | ●

 April 26th, 2017

New Moon in Taurus:
A different physical reality begins with a different spiritual reality.
If you want a different result, begin with a different choice.

Changing ourselves begins with changing our choices. Our choices define who we are. Our choices define our present. There are times when we are unaware of the choices we are making, either because we are turning a blind eye or because we are not aware of the possible consequences.

How can we make the best choice for ourselves when we don't even know which one is the right choice? Often times, the answers lie deep within us. We just need to look deeper into ourselves to see why we are feeling the way we do and what choices we need to make next.

Our choices define our present.

Perhaps we have been called to make some lifestyle changes. From changing the way we eat, the way we exercise, the way we clean ourselves, to changing the type of people we allow into our lives. And this change in our physical reality can only be possible when we make a change within our spiritual reality.

Our spiritual connection with the soul says a lot about our connection with ourselves. When we connect more closely with our soul-selves, we can form a deeper and more loving connection with our physical bodies. When we cultivate a more spiritual bond with our soul, we will be able to consciously see choices we need to make that can lead to our highest potential.

One of the first steps we can take to spiritually connect with our soul is to release all the lies we have been telling ourselves. When we lie to ourselves, we lose our connection to our soul-selves and therefore tend to make choices that we often regret later. When we lie to ourselves, we only build a barrier to our personal truths. By unmasking the lies we have been telling ourselves, we can open the door to our personal power and freedom.

When we connect more closely with our soul-self,
we can form a deeper and more loving
connection with our physical body.

Happy New Moon! The Moon is conjoining the Sun in Taurus, marking a super down to earth and stable New Moon in the sign of the Bull. What we begin at this time has the potential to stick around for a long time. The stable energy from the Taurean New Moon brings to us a new sense of patience that may not be easily felt before. We understand that progress takes time, and the key to keep going in the direction of our dreams lies in our undying spirit.

Taking better care of our physical bodies also brings a new level of balance to our mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. As we begin our change from within, we begin to change the way we see ourselves and the way we make our decisions.

The Moon is forming a sextile to Neptune, Chiron and Venus, and instead of worrying, we recognize the healing power of prayer. Instead of trying to do everything ourselves, we give others the chance to help us. Instead of criticizing ourselves, we remember the magic of self-respect. As long as we are following our inner guidance and remaining truthful to our values, we can ditch self-doubt, face change and move forward confidently.

As we begin our change from within, we begin to change the way
we see ourselves and the way we make our decisions.

With the Moon's trine to Pluto Rx, to experience peacefulness, do not force progress. Allow things to flow naturally, and make room for a soulful renewal. Withdrawing from action is not always about wasting time, but about allowing our minds and bodies to rest to gain new perspectives.

The New Moon in Taurus is about balancing between our physical and spiritual worlds. It's about having physical awareness while maintaining our spiritual connection with the world. It's about focusing on one step at a time with respect to our soul's purpose, knowing that the present is a sacred place to be where we can plant seeds for new beginnings and new growth.
